After 36 years of business, owners Kim and Annette have sold the business and are moving onto the next chapter of their lives.

Annette and Kim bought Eaglehawk Floral Boutique on the 26th of November 1986.  The original shop was in Sailors Gully Road where it remained for about twelve months before relocating to the existing High Street address.

Back then, the boutique was shared with family members Peter (brother) and Norma (mother) who run Majors Sports and Cycles. It wasn’t long before both businesses grew and more space was needed, resulting in the sports and cycles business moving across the road three years later.  This allowed Kim and Annette to expand into the entire space.

The business has progressively grown into a gift shop as well as a florist.

“It’s a real family business – my three daughters work here as well – it’s a very much a family affair”.

We were curious about their decision to sell the business after so many years. After 36 years, Annette and Kim came to the decision that it was time to spend more quality time with their families.

Annette’s son and four year old granddaughter live in Brisbane and she would like to be able to visit them more often. In addition, Kim’s daughter has recently had a baby, so grandparent duties are now on the agenda.

“After 36 years we are very fortunate to have sold our business to John from John’s  Flower Box in Kangaroo Flat”.

Some final words to the Eaglehawk Community

“Annette and I would like to thank the Eaglehawk community.  They are very sincere. We’ve had so many people come in with beautiful messages. We’ve had many Facebook comments which we really appreciate. We will continue to have a lot of friendships from people that we’ve met coming in the shop, and hopefully we might be able to go out for coffee with them one day”.
