Empowering Eaglehawk, along with Bendigo Bank and Bendigo Telco, are continuing to pioneer community engagement initiatives after hosting a well-attended ‘Eaglehawk Gathers’ community event in May. The event gathered many people from our community, including numerous Community Gardens in our area. Each Community Garden had the opportunity to profiled their work, tell stories, network and displayed their fresh produce. We would like to particularly thank Bendigo Baptist Church Eaglehawk for hosting the first of many ‘Eaglehawk Gathers’ events. We also thank MADCOW Community Garden, Eaglehawk Primary School Stephanie Alexander Garder, Eaglehawk Secondary College GROW Program, Eaglehawk Community House Community Garden and Long Gully Community Garden for their contribution to the night.

Empowering Eaglehawk, through an effective community funding model, as well as our local Community Gardens are effectively working together to address social isolation within our community. Each of their Visions highlight the importance of creating environments that foster healthy social relationships. It is true, that as we invest our lives into those around us that, ‘the quality of our relationship determines the weight of our influence.’ We must break down our 6 foot fence culture if we truly want our community to thrive.
Empowering Eaglehawk gave away significant amounts of money to local community groups on the night; totalling just over $850,000 since its establishment 10 years ago. This figure is truly amazing. Well done Empowering Eaglehawk. Lets all continue to support Bendigo Bank and Bendigo Telco so we can contribute, at no cost to ourselves, financially back into our great community. I like to call Eaglehawk the ‘Centre of the Universe’!

If you are a community group looking for some funding to help you get a project off the ground, or to improve what you do or your reach, I encourage you to visit www.empoweringeaglehawk.org.au to apply for a grant today. Contact us if you have any questions.
