Gorja, Isabella and Kayla visited The White Dahlia, a new shop
in Eaglehawk which opened in the first week of August of 2020.

When we entered, the brightness of all the beautiful white objects dazzled us. Everything was white and laced with blue – the walls, the shelves, all the stock. A sea of white with a speckle of blue—totally overwhelming.

We asked the shop’s owner, Carolyn about her choice of theme. “Hampton, French Provincial and a little bit of Boho.  I love the Hampton style and that’s why I decided on it”.

Hamptons is an object that is blue and white which originated in the 1600s in Long Island, America.

Carolyn and her husband purchased the building that was quite rundown and decided to renovate it. The shop is at the front and a bed and breakfast business is at the rear which is rented out on a short-term basis.

It took about eight months to
renovate.  A new shop front that was installed, the original floor boards were polished and most of the back section was gutted and re-built.
Eaglehawk residents will remember a shop as a grocery store owned and ran by Mancell Davies.

There is a great variety of home décor on offer, the best selling items being the cute birds and ducks.
